Garcia Earns TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 Freshmen Ranking

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel freshman forward Mariana Garcia was selected to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's College Soccer Freshmen Top 100 Players to Watch, earning a No. 100 national ranking. Garcia also ranked No. 2 on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 20 ranking for Southern Conference, improving from a previous ranking of No. 15.

In her collegiate debut, Garcia has tallied nine goals, 52 shots, 31 on goal, one assist, 19 points and five game-winning goals, solidifying a place in multiple categories of The Citadel record books. Recently honored as the Southern Conference Player and Freshman of the Year and a member of the All-Conference first team, the Bogota, Colombia, native has guided the Bulldogs to their best season in program history with a 12-7-1 overall record and a SoCon Women's Soccer Tournament berth.

The Bulldogs earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 7-4-0 mark in conference action. The Citadel advanced to Friday's semifinal round against No. 2 Samford after defeating No. 6 Furman in the tournament opener on Sunday.
