Keith Anchors Bulldogs After Two Rounds of Spider Invitational

Senior Alanna-Jean Keith carded scores of 88 and 83 to place herself in a tie for 40th place among individuals at the Spider Invitational at St. James Plantation. Keith anchored The Citadel golf team that enters final round play in 12th position, with a combined score of 720, after playing 54 holes at Reserve Course on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (378-342—720) are 80 strokes behind first place Boston College (312-328—640). The Eagles have four players ranked among the top 20 finishers, including tournament leader Katia Joo, who fired a 154 (76, 78), one shot better than Winthrop's Jennifer Dilger (78-77—155). Meanwhile, Charleston Southern (329-317—646) and UNC Pembroke (338-320—658) round out the top three of the team leaderboard.

After completing the opening round with an 88, Keith rebounded to shoot an 83 in the second round to place herself alongside UNC Pembroke's Jennifer Crow in 40th place.

Citadel Sophomore Erica Pellegrini (172) is one shot behind Keith after scores of 88 and 84.

Freshman Devin Lowe continues to improve for the Bulldogs, placing 59th with an opening day score of 186. Lowe got off to a rocky start by shooting a 105, but recovered to fire an 81 in the second round, the lowest score of the day for The Citadel.

Teammates Kellie Anderson (100-96—196) and TaKima Butler (102-94—196) rounded out scoring for the Cadets, locked in a three-way tie for 61st at the close of the afternoon.
The Dogs return to action on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
